Positive Futures for Young People grant from the Environment, Neighbourhoods & Growth department

This project will create a ‘floating garden’ on a barge on the Regent’s Canal in Camden and Islington that will provide opportunities for local young people to learn about the environment and biodiversity. The project will be co-created with young people and will include a floating reedbed, intergenerational storywalks and gardening sessions with the boating community.

Grant uplift 'Cost of Living crisis': refurbishment of building for a charity supporting disadvantaged young people in Southwark

The funding will be used to grow the garden further and expand the community grower programme increasing horticultural training and cooking classes for new growers. The project aims to create a space by and for the local community to be educated on the importance of growing perennials in a climate changing world whilst forming relationships in a healthy environment.

The funding will be used to develop and improve a community use garden. This will include growing beds and cooking and gardening workshops. The project aims to bring people together and educate young people locally about the benefits of having green space.

Global Generation (Somers Town Community Hub)

Global Generation is an educational charity which works with local children and young people, businesses, residents and families in Camden, Islington and Southwark to create healthy, integrated and environmentally responsible communities. This funding will contribute towards the running of the Story Garden in Camden. This community space and resource connects people of all ages to nature in the middle of the city, offering weekly activities that nurture physical and mental wellbeing.

Story Garden

This funding will allow us to run a fully funded entry level certificate in horticulture followed by a further certificate or a level 1 for YP aged 16-29.

Global Generation

"The fund aims to:1) To reduce closures of essential charities that provide essential services to vulnerable groups during the COVID-19 crisis by ensuring they have the financial resources to operate, thereby reducing the burden on public services.2) To ensure essential services are provided to vulnerable people, both in the short and long term through increased community support through the work of charitable organisations."

Coronavirus Community Support Fund

This project aims to address climate change and biodiversity loss through the development of a sustainable local food policy for the London Borough of Islington. This will be achieved through maximising local food growing encouraging local eating/shopping minimising food waste promoting rainwater harvesting and improving understanding of the environmental impacts

The project will bring local Somers Town and KX residents and groups together over food and give the opportunity for 12 young people with learning disabilities the chance to gain catering experience and increased social and emotional capacities in a working catering kitchen.

The project will be a space where gardeners, chefs and makers are also facilitators and storytellers who relish bringing life to the concrete terrain of construction sites...

The project is a series of workshops and events, which we will bring people together across ages and backgrounds to develop new relationships, create welcoming and healthy spaces for the local community and take positive action.

Intergenerational project at the Printworks, Surrey Docks ward, for 8 young people and 8 older people to grow food, cook together and share recipies.
